My Thoughts On Modern Design Philosophy

The way that people do things changes throughout time. Over the course of years and years, people find better ways to accomplish things, or ways they just like more. Unfortunately, the way people have been designing mostly anything has become very sterile. Nowadays, things tend to look a lot more boring than they used to. The structure of modern buildings and structures are simple and minimalistic, almost to a fault. The general color palette of most things that are man-made is bleak and unimaginative. You go around a city, and the colors you see most of are dull and uninteresting. Gray, brown, black, white, beige, generally boring colors artistically. These colors aren't bad in any way, but when they're the only thing you really see, they get old fast.
As far as I understand, there are reasons as to why we've shifted away from the over-the-top, bright,  and colorful philosophy that was present during a lot of the past century. Things like the "boring colors" being cheaper to produce or being generally more abundant and easy to manufacture... yadda yadda, you get the point. If we really need to switch to being lifeless and boring design-wise, so be it, but I'd like to be able to live in a world with a bit more pizazz either way. There's probably not much I can do to change the way the world looks, but hey, maybe I just need to change the way I look at it. Who knows. That's it for today, see you next time.
