My Thoughts On The Modern Video Game Market

Video games are some of the most popular media of this generation. It makes sense that the companies that make and produce them should be making some fat stacks of cash. To me, though, it sometimes feels like they try a little too hard to squeeze out as much money from their consumers than they need to. If I am going to pay for a full-price game (usually around $60-$70), then I don't really think it's necessary to add MORE things to pay for after the fact that I have already paid.
Now, it makes sense that some smaller development teams would charge some extra money here and there. After all, their entire livelihood may depend on this gamble of whether or not they'll sell their game and make profit. I get that. However, when you have companies that already make several million dollars annually, what's the point of putting microtransactions and cash grabs in? Don't you already make enough just from sales of the game alone? Wouldn't you maybe attract a bigger audience if you made a lack of extra payments a selling point? I'd definitely buy a game like that. Then again, I'd buy the game with the extra payments too... whatever. This has been me rambling about something that isn't really a big issue in most cases. See you next time.
